Steve Siler, owner of the funeral home, said the fire occurred in the second-story living area above the funeral home operations, but the entire building was condemned.The funeral home will continue its operations at Tom Mungovan Funeral Home at South Calhoun Street and Creighton Avenue, Siler said.There was one body in the preparation room at the time of the fire.The reason for the fire, which occurred about 5 a.m., has not been determined, said Josh Hale, fire chief for the New Haven Adams County Fire Department, the lead company at the fire, which was brought under control in about an hour. All the home's residents and pets were evacuated and uninjured, he added.Roger Clark, Allen County assistant building commissioner, said there is an ongoing investigation as to the state of the building.The business has been “temporarily displaced as we work things out with the city building department and the state health department,” Siler said.jduffy@jg.net...
